Best Time to Visit Nepal
Spring and fall are often considered the ideal times to visit Nepal, as the climate is mild and stable with bright skies. The climate of Nepal is separated into a dry season (October to March) and a wet season (April to September), with the peak tourist season occurring during the dry season.
October, November, and December are the best months to travel to Nepal during the peak season because of the clear skies and comfortable weather.
But Nepal’s terrain and climate are very different, so there is much more to think about. Winter and summer in Nepal attract a growing number of tourists due to the clear skies and good weather. With the right knowledge, a good travel strategy, and good Nepal Travel packages, Nepal is a fantastic year-round trip.
Main Seasons
Wintertends to bring cold weather to Nepal’s higher elevations, yet exploring the country is an excellent season. The lower Himalayan foothills and the forests of Chitwan and Bardia in southern Nepal are ideal for trekking in the winter. Prepare yourself with thick clothing, as the lower lands are often chilly in the morning and night, but the weather during the day is pleasant.
Springis a wonderful time to go on vacations to Nepal due to slowly rising temperatures and more dependable weather. Holi in March and the Nepalese New Year in April are two of spring’s most notable celebrations. The color festivals will be held in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, Janakpur, and other big cities. The national flower of Nepal, the Rhododendron, also known as “Gurans” in Nepali, blooms throughout the spring months of March and April.
Monsoonseason, which begins in June and lasts through August, is an important season for farmers in Nepal, who rely heavily on rainfall and harvest their crops throughout this time. Depending on where you go, you can see farmers planting rice, paddy, maize, beans, and other crops. Typically, tourists enjoy visiting Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, Lumbini, etc.
Fallis one of the most popular times to visit Nepal because the weather is usually stable, the temperatures are mild, and the skies are clear. Since the weather patterns are ideal, so are the crowds! Autumn features major celebrations such as Dashain (October) and Tihar (November).
Famous Places to Visit in Nepal
Nepal tour packages offer wonderful possibilities to experience the cultural heritage, natural beauty, and stunning vistas of the Himalayas’ sceneries and breathtaking backdrops. From sightseeing to trekking up popular viewpoints, exploring world heritage sites, and investing in various adventure activities, this little Himalayan nation offers tourists the chance to make the most of their adventure time.
Below are some of the most popular Nepal Travel packages:
1. Pokhara
Pokhara is approximately 200 kilometers from Kathmandu. It is on the northwest side of the Pokhara Valley. The Seti river runs through the city and divides it into two parts: Bagar, an old town in the north, and Lakeside (the tourist district in the south).
The Annapurna range, which has the tenth-tallest peak in the world, is close to the city of seven lakes. This city is known for having a porous underground, which offers many caves. You can see beautiful mountains like Mt. Machhapuchhre, the Annapurna Himalaya Range, Nilgiri, and numerous others from here.
Here is the list of five must-visit destinations in Pokhara:
Phewa Lake : The destination, which is also called Fewa Lake, is a popular place to visit for both international and domestic tourists. Phewa Lake is a semi-natural freshwater lake that adheres to dam regulations. On a clear day, you can see the peak’s dazzling reflection in the lake, which is a magical thing to see. The Barahi Temple is in the middle of the lake, which makes it a very memorable place to go boating.
Devi’s Falls or David Falls :This waterfall flows out of Phewa Lake and can be seen about 2 kilometers from Pokhara Airport. It is a 500-foot-long tunnel underneath a waterfall. The fact that the water from this waterfall descends into an underwater tunnel is what sets it apart from the other well-known Pokhara attractions. The height of the monsoon is the ideal time to visit the area. From the Gupteshwor Mahadev cave, you may see the waterfall as it disappears underground.
Sarangkot :Sarangkot is also one of the many popular locations in Pokhara. It is a hill west of Pokhara with a lookout tower about 1,600 meters above sea level. Sarangkot is famous for its mesmerizing view of Pokhara, which includes the Phewa Lake and a mountain range like Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Manaslu. Sarangkot is also one of the best places in the world to go paragliding. Many visitors go to Sarangkot to paraglide and watch the sunrise over the Annapurna mountain range. On the approach to the summit, one can walk or take a cab and observe the local village life.
Peace Pagoda Stupa : The Peace Pagoda, also called Shanti Stupa, is at the top of the mountain on the southern side of Phewa Lake. This Buddhist temple offers a majestic view of the Annapurna range, the city, and the lake below. The Peace Pagoda of Nepal was built as a present by Japanese monks in 1973. The divine white shades of this pagoda generate a feeling of peace. It has four Buddha sculptures, symbolizing the major stages of Buddha’s life.
International Mountain Museum :This museum displays previous and present mountaineering endeavors in Nepal, Japan, Slovakia, and elsewhere. With all of its different gadgets and gear, this place will make you want to go on a mountaineering trip. Small models of Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Everest, etc. are also there. The hall of Himalayan activities and the hall of temporary exhibitions come next.
2. Ghorepani Poon Hill
Amongst the Nepal tour packages, the Ghorepani-Poonhill trek is one of the most popular Annapurna regions. The view from Poon Hill (3210 m) is one of the best places to see a wide range of Himalayan peaks, such as Mt. Fishtail (6,993 m), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167 m), Annapurna South Annapurna I (8091 m), Tukuche Himal (6920 m), Nilgiri (6940 m), and Himchuli (6440 m).
Those who like nature and gorgeous scenery will never forget this unforgettable experience. The walk can be extended or reduced based on available time. This is an incredible trip for anyone who enjoys nature and beautiful scenery. You can make the hike longer or shorter based on how much time you have.
3. Chitwan
Chitwan is one of the best-known Nepal Travel packages for jungle road trips in Nepal. The majority of tourists visit Chitwan to see Chitwan National Park. It is a very big area; you can see leopards, elephants, and other animals. It has a subtropical climate, meaning the summers are hot and humid, and the winters are not too cold.
One of the activities you may do in the park is to go for a walk. One can also spend a half day on one of these hikes. A classic vehicle safari is an option if you do not want to walk around in the heat. In addition to visiting the elephants, many tourists enjoy giving them a bath in Chitwan. On Wednesdays between 9 and 11 a.m., elephants are washed in the river.

Why you must plan your Nepal trip via Gorakhpur?
The best way to plan your Nepal trip from India is to plan it via Gorakhpur. It gives you 2 major advantages as below :-
Advantage No 1 – From any part of India if you take a direct flight to Kathmandu since it will be an international flight it will cost you more. Whereas from any city in India to Gorakhpur (GOP) will be a cheaper option, in comparison to a direct flight to Kathmandu. So, you will save a good amount of money.
Advantage No 2 – Without adding any extra day OR cost you can add the 2 most important sightseeing places like Gorakhnath Temple at Gorakhpur & Lumbini (Birth Place of Lord Buddha) in Nepal. Also, if you want to combine other holy places like Kashi, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Naimi Saranyam, these can only be added if you plan your Nepal trip from Gorakhpur.
Some people will question the traveling time between Gorakhpur & other places in Nepal, so kindly note that driving hrs Between Gorakhpur – Pokhara is almost 8 Hrs whereas Kathmandu – Pokhara is almost 6 Hrs, also Gorakhpur Chitwan is almost 6 Hrs whereas Kathmandu Chitwan is around 5 Hrs.
So, the time factor actually becomes null & void if we compare it with our savings on flight costs. Also, we design your itinerary in such a way that you can exit Nepal from Kathmandu (if you want) by air if you don’t want to come to Gorakhpur on your return journey.
How can I go to Nepal from India by train?
As of now, there is no direct train from India to Nepal, except one between Jaynagar (Bihar) to Janakpur (Nepal). Gorakhpur Junction (GKP) is the most prominent railway station for travelers coming from Northern, Southern, Western & Central parts of the country. However, Raxaul (RXL) is another railway station that is preferred by travelers from the East-Central part of the country mostly from West Bengal, Orrisa & Jharkhand.
Does Indian need passport to enter Nepal?
Indian citizens do not require VISA to enter Nepal. Passport & Voter’s ID cards are the only documents that prove your nationality as Indian. So, you do not need to carry a Passport if you are carrying your Indian Election Card (Voter’s ID Card) in the original. Children below 18 years must carry their Passport, as they will not have voter’s id card.
Note – Adhar Card, PAN Card & Driving’s license are not valid travel documents for Nepal.
What are the valid travel documents required to travel to Nepal from India?
If you are an Indian citizen then you don’t need VISA to enter Nepal either by Air OR by Road. But if you are a PIO card holder (Person of Indian Origin) then you must get VISA before entering Nepal in any which way.
For any Indian citizen, a Voter’s ID card & Passport are the only documents that prove your nationality as Indian, the rest of the other documents like an ADHAR card, PAN Card, or any other such card is considered proof of identity.
So, as the rule says Indian citizens don’t require VISA, so you have to prove that you are an Indian & for this you must carry either Voter’s ID Card OR a Passport (both in original, xerox copy not accepted).
However, kids of age below 12 years & elders above 65 years are exempted from this rule; they can travel on ADHAR Card provided they are traveling in a group with people who have either Voter’s ID cards OR Passports. This means if someone travels to Nepal with their kids & parents & these people do not have voter’s ID card OR passport they can enter Nepal on an ADHAR card provided the master passengers have voter’s ID OR passport.
But, we strongly recommend that before booking your flight ticket to Nepal you must re-confirm this with your airline to avoid any last-minute confusion & avoid loss of money.
Passengers are also required to carry a printed copy of the online form (International Traveler Online Arrival Form) to be filled by logging in to https://ccmc.gov.np/
Chardham was my 2nd trip with team SafarGenie and I am very satisfied with the service and Coordinators. They were helpful from the very beginning, tried to organize at the best. We were happy with respect to the hotels, food, and the help to transport our luggage. Driver was very professional and friendly. If an extra driver was provided we might have managed to cover a couple of places we missed. Help in booking helicopter tickets would have been a great boost to the trip. Surely recommend it to my friends and family. Thank you for a memorable trip.

Overall, the whole trip was good and pleasant. Accommodation and food was good andcomfortable. We could meet the schedule most of the times.
The changeover of the driver in-between affected the trip schedule and we were devoid of visiting few places suggested in the itinerary. Drivers could be more friendly with the passengers and should help them in visiting places. Since, it is a long trip, it is better to have two drivers who can drive in shifts safely.
