If you a nature lover & planning a trip from Delhi, then trust me you will never regret your decision of Jim Corbett National Park from Delhi.
In 1936 this national park was established as Hailey National Park to protect the endangered Bengal tiger. It is located in the Nainital & Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. This was the first national park of India, which was embarked under the Project Tiger initiative which was launched to preserve Tigers in India.
Jim Corbett National Park has spread in around 521 Sq Km area & having elevation ranges from 1,300 to 4,000 ft (400 to 1,220 m) & houses 488 different Flora & 586 Fauna species. 73% of the forest is covered under the park while 10% of the area consists of grassland.
Initially, some part of the forest was owned by the princely estate of the Tehri Garhwal Dynasty. Part of the dense jungle was cleared to minimize the influence of Rohilla invaders, but Raja of Tehri renounced some part of this jungle from his princely estate to the British East India Company to banish the Gorkhas from his territory.
Until early 1860, Boksas the tribal community from the Teri region were settled here & doing farming, but by the introduction of British Rule, they were stopped from doing farming & have to vacate the area. In 1868, the British Forest Department came into existence as a first step in protecting this area.
In the 1930s authorities came up with a plan of demarcation of the area & Jim Corbett assisted him in same & later this park was renamed Jim Corbett National Park in the year 1955-56 from Ramganga National Park which was renamed in 1954-55 from Hailey National Park.
In 1974, a prestigious, ambitious & Nobel Project – Tiger was launched to save Tigers.

Jim Corbett National park is divided into 05 ecotourism zones named Dhikala Zone, Bijarani Zone, Jhirna Zone, Dhela Zone & Durga Devi Zone for proper management of the tourism activities in the tiger reserve area.
The Safari Tours are organized in two shifts in all the regions & limited numbers of Safari Jeeps are allowed in every zone to ensure the proper distributions of tourists in all zones of the National Park. Every zone is beautiful & has its own natural charm & wildlife. However, tiger sighting is more or less equal in every zone. But, based on our guest experience we prefer Bijarani Zone most for tiger sighting.
