Overview

The holy trip of four sacred places of Uttarakhand (Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath & Badrinath) is popularly known as Chardham Yatra of Uttarakhand. Sometimes people confuse it with other Chardham Yatra which consists of Badrinath, Dwarka, Puri & Rameshwaram.

Significance Of Chardham Yatra

Shri Adiguru Shankaracharya Ji coined the word “Chardham”. The term means the four Spiritual Destinations Or adobes of God. He combined two Hindu sectarian traditions. Kedarnath Ji & Badrinath Ji & two Goddes i.e Gangotri & Yamunotri which houses in the Himalayas and are generally covered by a blanket of snow and a piercing atmosphere. This Chardham Yatra is considered a must-visit pilgrimage tour by Hindus to achieve Moksha (Salvation). Every year around 2 lacs tourists visit this four holy adobe with complete devotion.

History Of Chardham Yatra

These four main pilgrimage site which forms present-day Chardham Yatra Package was considered to be very tough & wanderers like Sadhus, Sanyasis (Ascetics), one who has a steep inclination towards spirituality or who can afford to travel, only those people were visiting this till the 1950s. Because during those periods no roads were present & traveling the four pilgrimages of Uttarakhand meant embarking on foot through the hilly terrain. However, the exact year or when & how these four adobes were linked together & formed the circuit of Chhota Chardham Yatra is still not known to anyone.

Till during the Indo-China war (1962), there was no road connectivity to these holy places, but with time & massive effort of locals & government, infrastructure is being built & today the connectivity by road is very good & now helicopter services are also available.

Chardham was my 2nd trip with team SafarGenie and I am very satisfied with the service and Coordinators. They were helpful from the very beginning, tried to organize at the best. We were happy with respect to the hotels, food, and the help to transport our luggage. Driver was very professional and friendly. If an extra driver was provided we might have managed to cover a couple of places we missed. Help in booking helicopter tickets would have been a great boost to the trip. Surely recommend it to my friends and family. Thank you for a memorable trip.

Overall, the whole trip was good and pleasant. Accommodation and food was good andcomfortable. We could meet the schedule most of the times. The changeover of the driver in-between affected the trip schedule and we were devoid of visiting few places suggested in the itinerary. Drivers could be more friendly with the passengers and should help them in visiting places. Since, it is a long trip, it is better to have two drivers who can drive in shifts safely.

An awesome trip of Nepal from Gorakhpur. Budget package. All Hotels were beautiful. Driver was very good. Very peaceful and memorable journey.
